About Frank Quint
The son of a truck driver from a small town in the Midwest, Frank joined the Army right after high school, served his country, came home, and went to college where he earned his Bachelor's degree in Accounting and an MBA. Frank found success in business where he now leads a global logistics team for RH (formerly Restoration Hardware).
Frank lives in East Petaluma with his wife, Kristi, and their 10-year-old son, Jackson. He coaches Little League, enjoys bike riding and backpacking, and serves on two city committees dealing with local transit. Now he’s ready to do more.
Born in Redding, CA; Raised in Rochelle, IL
Frank grew up Rochelle, Illinois, a factory town surrounded by agriculture lands, similar to Petaluma. Frank was born in Redding, California, but his family moved to the Midwest in search of work when he was three years old and his brother was six. His father found work as a truck driver and his mother worked at the local textile mill. Life in Rochelle was pleasant. Frank attended a K-8 Lutheran school, played Little League baseball, swam on the local swim team, and loved to play guitar. Frank played in his high school jazz band and could often be found having fun with his garage band.
Joined the Military After High School
Frank signed up for the Army Reserves as a Military Policeman in 1984 at the young age of 17. He joined a program that allowed students to go to basic training between their junior and senior years in high school. He completed this training in Anniston, Alabama. After high school, Frank joined the military full-time on active duty as an Armor Crewman (Tanker). Tanker training was completed in Fort Knox, Kentucky, and from there Frank was stationed at Fort Lewis, Washington, for three years. Frank’s tour of duty then took him to South Korea, where he joined an armored cavalry squadron stationed near the demilitarized zone (DMZ) at the border with North Korea. Frank left full-time military service to pursue his higher education, but a short time later he was reactivated with the National Guard to deploy for Operation Desert Storm during the first Gulf War in 1991. This tour took Frank to Nuremberg, Germany, where he served as a Military Policeman.
Returned Stateside for College
Frank returned to Washington state after his military service was complete. He worked full-time in the evenings as a truck driver and as a truck dispatcher at a grocery distribution center while he completed his AA at South Puget Sound Community College. He then transferred to Saint Martin’s University in Lacey, Washington, where he earned his BA in Accounting and then continued his education until he completed a Masters in Business Administration. Frank is proud to be a first-generation college graduate.
A Successful Career in Shipping and Transportation
Frank’s career in shipping and transportation began while he was working to complete college. He progressed from driving and dispatching to leading a crew of 60 drivers, dispatchers, and staff. After graduating, he went to work for Target as a regional transportation manager, where he was responsible for outbound transportation from regional distribution centers. This role brought him to the Bay Area in 2003. Frank joined RH (formerly Restoration Hardware) where he's held critical leadership roles in transportation. Upon joining RH in 2004, he helped shape RH’s national home-delivery network. He later became the Senior Director of Domestic Transportation. In this role, Frank implemented a national carrier strategy that supported the organization’s needs at competitively negotiated pricing. He developed a strategy that saved the company $6M annually on a $65M transportation budget. Frank’s work in collecting and managing large-scale transportation data laid the foundation to building RH’s transportation business intelligence platform. Today, Frank leads a team at RH that supports Global Transportation with transportation finance, data management, and business intelligence combined.
Now Raising a Family in Petaluma
Frank and his wife Kristi moved to Petaluma in 2010 and they adopted their son Jackson in 2013. Petaluma’s charm, affordability, and location were all factors in their decision to make Petaluma their home. Petaluma checked all of the boxes for raising a child and creating a community for their family. Frank has served on Sonoma County’s search and rescue team and has coached youth flag football, CYO basketball, and Little League baseball. He currently serves as the Safety Officer on the Board of Directors for the Petaluma Valley Little League. Frank also serves on the City of Petaluma’s Transit Advisory Committee (TAC) and Pedestrian and Bicycle Advisory Committee (PBAC). Lastly, Frank loves to get around town on his bicycle. He believes that when you ride through our neighborhoods on a bike, you move through them more intently, you begin to take them in, and you begin to care for them more deeply. Taking care of Petaluma’s present and future are what motivate Frank to run for City Council now.
